2019 EX LIBRIS

EX LIBRIS 2019

Idea Store, Canary Wharf, London E14

‘Dormant’ is an exploration of drawing methodologies, tactile childhood memories and the changes in the nature of where and how ideas or information are stored and sought out.

My childhood fascination with a set of 1886 Chambers Encyclopaedias, bought at a school jumble sale and our many pet tortoises inspired the Ex Libris drawings.  It was an early introduction via the tortoises to the physical necessities of sleeping, eating, defecating, mating and death, although the latter I was convinced only happened if you hibernated.

Both tortoises and leather-bound Encyclopaedias are now rare in the domestic environment.
